Cho La and Renzo La Pass
This is one of the most exhilarating treks in the region. It is the combination of an extreme hiking adventure capturing the best views with visits to cultural centers of the region. Trekking heads north from Namche bazar towards the Everest base camp and Kalapattar. After base camp and Kalapattar, the trek proceeds west crossing the well known pass of Cho La. This brings you to the hub of Gokyo valley surrounded by peaks and lakes at an elevation of 4800m. After a day hike to climb Gokyo peak you have the great challenge of crossing the Renzo La (5350m).

Renzo La is no more difficult than Cho La in terms of elevation but it's one of the more challenging passes in the Himalayas. The pinnacle of the pass is so sharp that you have to look carefully for a resting place from which to take pictures. The views are so stunning that you will be clicking your camera till the end of the film. The 100m steep drop down the other side will necessitate holding onto the ropes fixed by your staff. No technical climbing knowledge is required, but you will need enthusiasm and suitable equipment. The breathtaking view of Everest from the pass is even better than from Kalapattar and Gokyo peak. The pass connects Gokyo to Thame valley where we find one of the oldest settlements. The valley north (Nangpa-La) is the ancient route along which Tibetans came in the 14th and 15th centuries and settled to become the Sherpas of the Himalaya. From Thame, we join the trail to Namche bazar and down to Lukla.
